Kilian Feller is a graphic designer and in business for a few years now. Unlike many other designers, who just start up their business without a target group in their mind, he identified a niche market: motion branding.

Only few companies – this was his statement – understand by now that identities do not need to be static and that motion will help to generate more brand awareness (we all now the famous Swisscom example). Kilian actually wanted and still wants to become the first person in Switzerland to be addressed if it comes to motion design in branding and corporate design. When he joined Creative Committed, he worked part-time for Swiss TV and part-time for his own company. During Creative Committed , our course for (prospective) design entrepreneurs, he set out to write a financial and a business plan and kept on asking strategic questions on how to position his company on the market. For instance, one important question many designers ask, is, how to approach customers with more confidence. Kilian is now partnering with non-designers (e.g. an innovation consultant), who – on the long run – might help him to acquire new customers. Overall, Kilian was able to verify his hypothesis that there is a market opportunity in motion branding by taking a courageous step forward: He is about to found a limited liability company (a GmbH), left SRG for good, and now is successfully working fulltime for his own company.
