On Tuesday, the Swiss Startup Coaching Network (SSCN) was invited to its first networking event. The SSCN, a union of various start-up sponsors from all over Switzerland, is committed to close, Swiss-wide cooperation in the Swiss start-up funding scene. The networking event at Impact Hub Bern provided an opportunity to discuss the needs and opportunities of the Swiss start-up scene.

The SSCN is a Swiss non-profit association founded in 2018 that brings together organizations committed to supporting start-up companies with an innovative business model that offers tailor-made, long-term and free coaching. Creative Hub became a proud member of the SSCN this year. The goal is to be able to guarantee optimum support for start-ups through the close cooperation of the various coaching networks throughout Switzerland and to provide an ideal breeding ground for them. The current member organizations are ASEN, Fri Up, GENILEM, genisuisse Zentralschweiz, genisuisse Zürich-Ostschweiz and, of course, Creative Hub.

The networking event on Tuesday was the first gathering of its kind. The various member organizations and an interested public were invited. The event offered, in addition to the opportunity to get in touch with the member organizations, exciting input on the topic of start-up funding.

Prof. Dr. Marc Gruber (EPFL)

Grégory Grin, president of the SSCN and director of Fri Up (a start-up support center in the canton of Freiburg) welcomed and introduced the SSCN to the participants. The centerpiece of the event was the keynote address by Marc Gruber, a professor at EPFL. Gruber introduced a model that he helped develop to support start-ups in finding the right markets for their ideas or products. The Market Opportunity Navigator persuades with a simple but effective applicability, and it has been praised by lean start-up guru Steve Blank and many others. Using examples from both theory and practice, the participants familiarized themselves with the Market Opportunity Navigator. It was an instructive keynote that gave every entrepreneur food for thought.

The SSCN's first networking event commenced with a meal and lively discussions. The SSCN will continue to organize networking events, workshops and boot camps in the future. Further information can be found on the SSCN website: www.swiss-startup-coaching.ch
