Varia Instruments

RDM20 scene 4 full

In the music industry Varia Instruments fills a niche that has long been vacant. They produce DJ mixers, which, because of their irresistible audio quality and excellent workmanship, are anything but off the shelf and are highly successful at serving the needs of mainly audiophile disc jockeys. For the two young technicians and music lovers Marcel Schneider and Simon Schär from Bern, it is a dream come true.

DJ mixers which are anything but off the shelf and are highly successful at serving the needs of mainly audiophile disc jockeys.

The two friends discovered that most DJ mixers on the market were almost always soulless manufactured goods. So the idea of developing their own equipment from scratch was born – equipment that would uncompromisingly satisfy their sound and operation needs. Their combined skills were perfect for realising their vision: Marcel is electronics and audio engineer and Simon is passionate record collector, DJ and mechanic. Soon enough, their handmade DJ mixers were being shipped out to DJs and audio enthusiasts around the world. Thinking a step further, in 2018 they introduced another innovative DJ product: a new kind of turntable weight, which found wide acclaim among the international audio and DJ community.

Varia Instruments

As avowed opponents of mass consumption, the two strive to achieve uncompromising, handmade quality. Another cornerstone of their philosophy is to act locally and ensure transparency. Customers can pick up their mixers in the workshop in person. They are shown where and how their new equipment was built and can have all of their questions answered. Whenever possible Varia Instruments works together with national suppliers. The ability to meet the manufacturers in their factories and to speak the same language helps the young business achieve its expectations: high quality products made in Switzerland.
