In her glass workshop in Bern, glassblower Rahel Koller designs and crafts handmade glass products individually and in small batches. The deliberate decision to personally make all products by hand in Switzerland comes out of her commitment to sustainable production as well as her passion for handwork and design, which she skillfully combines.
Rahel Koller was trained as a scientific glassblower. She mainly experiments and works with materials used for laboratory equipment. Inspired by the radical functionality of the laboratory glassware she creates practical products in a reduced and pure formal vocabulary. This is clearly expressed in the „Radix“ product, which allows the observation of a flower’s growth together with its root system.
