ANUVAD

Anuvad 4x3

At ANUVAD, traditional Indian craftsmanship is combined with the latest technology. The result is e-textiles of a very special kind: unique heating pads, heated carpets, and LED stoles. Behind ANUVAD is the textile designer and Lucerne resident Chhail Khalsa.

Here, traditional Indian craftsmanship is combined with the latest technology.

In Hindi ANUVAD means “translate”, and that describes Chhail Khalsa’s mission exactly: the translation of traditional Indian craftsmanship into the modern – making use of the latest e-textile technology. The project’s main goal is to design, develop and prototype products that are already part of the repertoire of traditional trade practices and at the same time enhance their functionality with technical innovation.

Chhail Khalsa developed three groundbreaking product series:  A heating pillow and heated rugs that deliver heat to places that do not have regular heating solutions available to them.  This innovative woven circuit design was patented.  Also, a stola design with a cleverly embedded LED fabric structure, which provides light to the person wearing it at nighttime when it is dark and thus provides safety.

ANUVAD supports products that not only are useful and ecologically sustainable, but which also provide a lasting economic perspective to craftsmanship in the digital age.
