Anuvad, Read On, Varia Instruments, Streax and Petit Mai: Last Friday, Creative Hub presented its participants and their business and product ideas to the invited guests at the Zurich Design Biennale for the first time, officially launching the 2019/2020 grant program.
More than 50 people took part in the event. They not only benefited from the opportunity to get to know the entrepreneurs and exchange ideas, but also from the opportunity to learn more about Design Biennale 2019. This year's topic was "Let's play design.” National and international design professionals from different fields showcased their ideas, visions, installations or projects and invited the audience to discover, sample and play along.
Regula Staub and Jakob Blumer of Creative Hub introduced the second part of the program, and in their introduction, they also presented the repositioning of Creative Hub. After dedicating itself to wide-reaching support across the Swiss creative industry since its founding in 2013, Creative Hub is now dedicated to the promotion of excellence. This shift in focus is reflected in the new look and feel of Creative Hub and the customized website that went live as part of the kick-off.
In his keynote speech, Patrick Reymond, the co-founder of La Neuveville's internationally acclaimed Atelier Oï, then commented on the importance of the game, of playing for designers: "We must know how to listen to others, learn and unlearn what we believe to do so well”.
In short pitches, the makers of Anuvad, Read on, Varia Instruments, Streax and Petit Mai presented their more or less raw products and business ideas, which are now in a coached, expert-led, one-year process augmented by networking with relevant economic actors, targeted promotion, market maturity and trading.
